1. What Orisift is, and who you are contracting with
Orisift is a trading name of Tervra Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17410031, with its registered office at 108 Fonthill Road, London, England, N4 3HT. These terms are an agreement between you and Tervra Limited.
Orisift is a technical data-quality service. Given a phone number, email address, IP address or domain, it performs format checks, public DNS queries and lookups against publicly documented registries, then returns a structured assessment of what it was able to establish.
Orisift does not confirm that a mailbox exists or is monitored, does not dial or message any phone number, does not identify the carrier operating a line, and does not maintain a threat-intelligence or reputation feed. The coverage matrix at /coverage states precisely which capabilities are offered, which are partial and which are not offered at all, and every API response repeats those limits in machine-readable form.
2. Acceptable use
You may use Orisift to validate identifiers you have a legitimate business reason to check: data you have collected, data your customers have supplied, or data you are cleaning for your own records.
You must not use Orisift to harass, stalk or profile individuals; to compile or sell personal data; to test identifiers at scale in order to discover which exist; or in any way that breaches applicable data-protection or anti-spam law in your jurisdiction or the data subject's.
Orisift is not a consumer reporting agency and its output is not a consumer report under the United States Fair Credit Reporting Act or any comparable regime. You must not use it as a factor in deciding eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing or any other purpose regulated by such a law.
3. Accuracy and no warranty
Orisift reports what its checks observed. Those checks depend on third-party infrastructure, principally the public DNS, and on reference data that can be incomplete or out of date.
A verdict is an assessment, not a guarantee. In particular, a verdict of "verified" does not warrant that an identifier is genuine, active, reachable, or belongs to any particular person, and a verdict of "insufficient_evidence" means only that the checks could not reach a conclusion.
The service is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
4. Accounts and security
You are responsible for keeping your API keys secret. A key can spend credits, so it must be held server-side and never shipped to a browser or committed to a repository. You can revoke or rotate a key at any time from the dashboard; rotation keeps the previous key working for sixty minutes so a running deployment is not interrupted.
You are responsible for activity carried out with your credentials. Tell us immediately if you believe a key or password has been exposed.
5. Credits and billing
Access is metered in credits. A phone, email or IP lookup costs one credit; a domain lookup costs two. The cost is shown before a lookup runs in the dashboard, and returned in every API response.
A lookup that returns any verdict, including a rejected or inconclusive one, consumes credits, because the checks ran and produced an answer. A lookup that fails because of an error on our side does not: the credit reservation is released.
Signup and subscription credits expire 90 days after each grant. Billing shows the next grant expiry. Credit packs are not currently available for purchase.
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not refund the current period, and credits already granted remain usable until they expire.
6. Refunds and disputes
If a payment is refunded, the credits that payment granted are deducted from your balance. If you have already spent them, the deduction may leave your balance negative, and further lookups will be declined until the balance is positive again.
Raising a chargeback suspends the account while the dispute is investigated, because a disputed payment cannot be relied on to have funded the service consumed.
7. Suspension and termination
We may suspend an account that appears to be breaching the acceptable-use terms, that is subject to an unresolved payment dispute, or that is generating load which threatens the service for others. Where circumstances allow, we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix it.
You may delete your account from Settings. Deletion removes active account records, API keys, lookup history and the credit ledger; a minimal deletion audit record remains. Backups and data already shared with processors have separate retention lifecycles. Unused credits are forfeited.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits, lost business or loss of data, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service, or from any decision you make on the basis of an Orisift assessment.
9. Changes
We may change these terms. Material changes will be notified by email to the address on the account at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that constitutes acceptance.
